If you’re a regular in the World Knife Throwing League, you’ll be happy to hear that for 2026, our core rules are staying largely unchanged based on community feedback. The format you know and love is staying put, but we’re making one exciting addition aimed at growing our awesome community.
Introducing Amateur Knife Throwing
We want to make it easier for new throwers to step up and compete. That’s why we’re officially adding an Amateur category alongside our Standard competition. Whether you’re just getting started or prefer throwing from a shorter distance, this new option is designed to welcome more people into the sport.
How It Works

Additional Amateur Rules
The amateur designation we’re working to have ready for season 1, but it will depend on whether we can finalize that functionality in the app. If it is not ready by season 1, then we will have it by Season 2. But it should not affect any gameplay or worlds’ bids for season 1 either way.
That is the update in a nutshell. There are some more specifics you can see on the official knife throwing rules in regards to safety throwing with amateurs.
The 2026 Rules Update will take effect on January 1st, 2026. To see a full list of the rules and details, be sure to check out the official knife throwing rules
